Everything you need to know

Welcome to the New Patient Center! We understand that arriving at a chiropractic office for the first time can be nerve-racking. Here's exactly what to expect — so you can walk in relaxed and ready.

What to expect

Laying the foundation for total health

In some ways, chiropractic care is a bit like building a house — certain things have to happen in a particular order for everything to stand strong. If something isn't right with your body's foundation, that needs to be addressed before true health can be achieved. With chiropractic care, your body goes through a particular plan of care so it can repair itself correctly and fully. There are three general phases:

01

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our Royal Oak chiropractic office, our first objective is to help you reduce pain and start feeling better as soon as possible. Depending on the severity of the underlying condition causing your pain, it is typical for a patient to need chiropractic care or adjustments 2–3 times per week for 4–12 weeks.

02

Phase 2: Corrective / Restorative Care

During the corrective phase of chiropractic care, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, which helps prevent further injury or pain. The goal of corrective care is to help bring your body back to 100% functioning. It is typical to need adjustments about 4–8 times per month for 6–24 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.

03

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once your body has fully healed and you are no longer experiencing pain, it is important to come in for periodic chiropractic adjustments to avoid further problems in the future. Usually this phase only requires a quick visit 1–4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.

Step by step

Your first visit

01

Consultation

You will sit down with Dr. David Sinawi to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options. This visit lets him learn more about you, your condition, and your goals, so he can determine how chiropractic care can help.

02

Examination

Dr. Sinawi performs a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Standard neurological, orthopaedic, postural, and physical tests are performed as well. Nothing is ever done in our office without your consent.

03

X-Ray Studies

Depending on your condition, we may refer you to a local imaging center for X-rays. X-rays help us build the most effective treatment plan and alert us to any serious spinal conditions. Most people are amazed to see their misalignments up close.

04

Report of Findings

Once the information is collected, Dr. Sinawi gives you a detailed report of all findings and answers your questions: How can you help me? How often do I need to come in? What will my treatment cost? He will then recommend the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.

05

Treatment

At the conclusion of this initial appointment, you can choose to experience your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments and/or soft tissue massage. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about different styles of treatment anytime.

06

Wellness Program

Before you leave, the doctor suggests a wellness program to follow outside of treatment — this might include ice or heat instructions, activities to avoid, and at-home exercises or stretches. Every person is unique, so every wellness plan is customized to you.

Payment options

Care that fits your budget

We believe in the value of chiropractic care for you and your family, so we've created a flexible pricing structure. Our office participates in most insurance programs — call us at 248-291-6113 with any questions.

Insurance

Most insurance plans are accepted at our office. We accept auto accident, workers' compensation and personal injury cases that have resulted in back pain, neck pain, headaches or other related conditions, as well as most health plans, including Medicare. Because coverage varies widely, call us to find out if your plan covers care — our staff will verify your benefits and explain them at no charge.

No insurance

For patients with little or no chiropractic coverage, we can arrange a flexible payment program that fits your budget. Many patients choose to pay directly for their visits, especially once they discover how cost-effective chiropractic care is — often cheaper and more effective than pain medications or invasive surgery.

Health on a budget

We're convinced chiropractic care will help you stay healthy and pain-free using only a small amount of your time and money. Prevention is the best cure, and regular care is far less time-consuming and expensive than recovering from pain or injury after it's happened.
